So, what will the main screen look like?
I'm aiming to make the main screen into a map with the disposition of units and cities etc displayed on it.
You'll have the option to centre the map on any of your cities or units and will see the surrounding terrain up to x squares away, I really need to make a mockup really.
There'll be a display panel on the left/right of the map describing the unit you are looking at and you can click on the map to move your units around.

Hmm...interesting choice, maybe have a globe spin around in the background? Another idea of mine would be having a classified file on the right side with files spilling out about enemy technogly and units

Nice ideas, I think you overestimate my abilities! Actually, my presentation is something I intend working on adn I have some friends who are good with graphics who might be persuaded to help out. Thanks for the ideas.

Make help/tutorial/FAQ easily available.
In-game messages between players? Forums? If you're not interacting with other players then you might as well be playing with yourself (!).

Good point about interraction, I will implement a message facility and also a "blog" for each player so they can keep track of how they are doing. The blog can have private areas as well as public so you could read the blog from another country.
I was also thinking about having a "newspaper" which changes every turn to show important news from the game including big battles, new countries/players/cities etc, which everyone can read daily.
Might be a bit ambitious though!
