Welcome to the discussion board for “Global Invasion”.
If you’ve found this board, you’ve probably been invited but if not welcome anyway! The board has been created to help me design a browser-based online game, working title “Global Invasion” (if you think of a better title for the game please let me know!). I’m hoping that people will read about the game and by providing feedback and suggestions the game design will evolve to make it a more enjoyable experience when it is released.
From experience of designing another game (http://pit-stop.34sp.com) it is better that I get suggestions now and spend more timing designing the mechanics of the game before I actually start coding it. I am not expecting to start coding the game for several months yet, until all aspects have been sketched out.
So, how will the game play etc?
The concept is loosely based around the old PC game, “Empire”, which was released in the mid 1980’s Based on an Earth-like planet, each player is given a city which they have control over in a randomly generated map. Each city controlled allows access to production of various military units such as tanks, infantry etc, which can be ordered to capture other cities, from other players and those not under anyones control.
There will be different types of units, both land based, ships and aircraft and you will be able to have some governmental influence over cities such as changing tax rates, building factories etc.
I’ve split each section of the game into it’s own thread for discussion, so if you want to know more you’ll need to look through the separate threads.
This message board will evolve as time goes by no doubt!
Finally, I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who is giving up their time (no matter how little) into helping me out. Whether it's just to comment or to give suggestions etc it is appreciated as coding a game can be quite soul destroying so having any kind of support does help!
